I cook from scratch because it's healthier so why would I use a boxed mix and bacon, bacon, bacon? For me, cookbooks are guides and for ideas as I rarely follow recipes exactly. I enjoyed the variety of ingredients that be added to a basic corn bread recipe. Meats, veggies and combos of them can all be added. I never thought of corn bread as a dessert option.
Lots of the recipes in this book sound tasty. As a vegetarian, I will substitute butter or oil for the bacon drippings.
This cookbook has thirty-one cornbread recipes. Most are average, some are made with mixes. Cornbread with cheddar and bacon is interesting.
Half of the recipes call for a "box of mix" so one has to question if the author knows what a cookbook is, much less how to cook...
I'm a big fan of cornbread and this eBook sounded intriguing. It's not a typical topic for a recipe collection. Can't say I was impressed with the recipes overall though.
What I noted right off the bat was how many that included BACON DRIPPINGS as one of the ingredients. Yuck....Is something this unhealthy really unnecessary to make cornbread? NOT!!! The ones that didn't include bacon drippings often contained bacon or other meats. As a vegetarian, I was totally turned off by this. I also noted that many recipes relied on cornbread mixes, not all from scratch ingredients. If someone is going to buy commercial mixes to make something, why bother with recipes?
Can't recommend but if you like meat particularly bacon, you might find something here. The cover was so yummy looking, too bad it didn't deliver from there.

No pictures and no nutritional information but I think some substitutions for a healthier option would work.
Lots of different methods for making the bread and varieties.
One as a dessert sounds real good. Other works by the author are highlighted at the end.
Any cookbook that bases a large portion if the recipes on a ready-made mix doesn't get a high rating from me. Making cornbread from scratch is not that difficult and in my opinion, the ultimate recipe guide should contain recipes that are not based on mixes.
